Board of Electrical Examiners and Appeals
The function of the Board is to help in the administration of the City of Lawrence Electrical Code. Its work includes designating standards and qualifications for the certification and licensing of electricians; acting as an appeals Board for persons aggrieved by a decision of the enforcing authority; and acting as a code committee recommending to the City Commission changes necessary for the adoption of technical codes and ordinances.

Grant Review Board
The Board's The Grant Review Board (GRB) function is to review and take action on citizens requests for financial assistance for housing and rehabilitation and to hear appeals from determinations made by the Neighborhood Resources Staff regarding housing rehabilitation programs. The GRB also reviews policies and procedures and makes recommendations to the City Commission concerning the Rehabilitation Grant Program.

Housing Practitioners Panel
The Panel is a group of social service providers, lenders, landlords, realtors, housing developers, and housing providers which receive CDBG, HOME, or Emergency Shelter Grant funds or have an interest in housing/homeless concerns. Their purpose is to share information, provide practitioner's perspective, assess housing/homeless needs and services for the Continuum of Care, and recommend activities to address identified needs.

Housing Trust Fund Board
The function of the Board is to encourage and support the acquisition, rehabilitation, and development of affordable housing and/or emergency shelter and supportive services necessary to maintain independent living with dignity in our community. This purpose is consistent with all aspects of the "Step Up to Better Housing" strategy.

Neighborhood Resources Advisory Committee
The Committee's function is to develop and propose Neighborhood Resources Department strategy and policy, to recommend allocation of CDBG and HOME funds, to review Housing Code and Environmental Code Appeals. The NRAC members are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Governing Body. NRAC consist of eleven (11) members. Five (5) members from target neighborhoods; six (6) at-large members which consists of one (1) representative from landlords, and one (1) representative from the Practitioner's Panel.

Sign Code Board of Appeals
The function of the Board is a quasi-judicial body set up to provide interpretations and variances under City land use regulations. The Board hears appeals and makes decision on the evidence presented at the hearing. All appeal requests and requests for variances shall be submitted to the Code Enforcement Manager, or his or her designee, a minimum of fifteen (15) work days prior to the meeting date of the Board.

Task Force on Homeless Services
The Task Force on Homeless Services has completed the Final Plan, which has been adopted by the City Commission. The Task Force will be replaced by the Community Commission on Homelessness when appointed by the Mayor.

Uniform Building Code Board of Appeals
The function of the Board is to make recommendations concerning the adoption of the Uniform Building Code and hears appeals from administrative interpretations of the Code. This includes the use of an alternate material. Each board member is a licensed professional engineer or architect, building contractor, or a building superintendent of building construction.
